A shape sorter is one of the first puzzles a baby solves, and this one looks good left out on the playroom floor. The box comes in two colorways, cream Original or blush Petal, with 12 shapes in soft muted tones that drop through matching cutouts in the lid.

When can a baby use a shape sorter? Mushie recommends this one from 10 months+, about when many babies start pinching, turning, and pushing objects through openings. Matching each star, heart, and cross to its slot builds hand eye coordination, and naming the shapes and colors out loud turns the game into early language play. The lid lifts off so the pieces store inside, and the cube stacks with a second box into a tower.

It is made in Denmark from food grade plastic and measures 5.6 inches on each side, a size small hands can carry to the rug.
