Decorative throw pillows do more work per dollar than almost anything else in a room. A standard throw pillow is 18 to 20 inches square and a lumbar pillow is usually about 14 by 20 inches, cut long so it supports the lower back on a reading chair or fills the gap on a deep sofa. Petite pillows run smaller still and are meant to layer in front of the larger ones rather than stand alone. Several of ours ship with the insert already included, so there is no second purchase to make the pillow look full.
