This beginner acoustic guitar is sized for players who are ready for six strings but not yet for a full-size body. The 22.8 inch short scale keeps the frets closer together, so chord shapes are easier to reach for smaller hands and first-time players.

Is a short scale guitar good for beginners? For many new players it is, because less stretch between frets and a smaller, lighter body mean more time playing songs and less time fighting the instrument. This one is strung with nylon, with a basswood body and a maple neck and fretboard carrying 18 frets.

Illustrated chord flashcards, picks, and a download code for the Loog Guitar app come in the box, so the first lesson can happen the day it arrives. It makes a natural next step for a child who started on a 3-string mini.

Perfect for: tween birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, first guitar lessons, school music programs, teen beginners, and grown-ups picking up guitar.
