Foil balloons hold gas far longer than latex because the metallized film does not breathe, so a helium-filled foil balloon typically floats for several days up to about two weeks depending on size and room temperature. Filled with air instead, a foil balloon holds its shape for weeks because air molecules escape the seams more slowly than helium.
