Rufferty is a Jellycat puppy who has committed entirely to a wizard costume, and the comedy of a small dog in robes is doing most of the work here. As a puppy stuffed animal he is soft and floppy and built for carrying; as a wizard he has somewhere to be, whether that is a spell to cast, a tower to guard, or a bedtime story to be written into.
That double identity is why he outlasts a costume plush bought purely for October. He belongs on a Halloween plush shelf and in a Boo Basket through the fall, then carries on quietly as a dog stuffed animal in a reading corner, on a made bed, or under an arm at lights out.
Jellycat designs are produced in seasonal runs rather than kept in permanent production, so a character you love is worth taking home the day you meet him.
How do you wash a Jellycat? Jellycat's own guidance is surface wash only: sponge the fabric with cool water and a small amount of mild detergent, then air dry away from direct heat. Machine washing and tumble drying are not recommended because they mat the pile and can damage sewn-on features.
