An orange dog collar in a cider gingham check is one of the easiest fall dog collars to live with: warm enough to feel seasonal, and simple enough to wear every day from September to December.

Cotton wraps the outside and the lining over nylon webbing, so only soft fabric touches the neck, a help for dogs that rub raw on plain nylon. Gold hardware finishes it, with a brass D-ring for the ID tag. How should a dog collar fit? Two fingers should slide underneath; measure the neck and pick XS for 8 to 11 inches, S for 11 to 16, M for 14 to 19, or L for 18 to 26. XS and S are 5/8 inch wide, and M and L are 1 inch. Made in the USA. Avoid salt water, which wears on the metal.
