A nylon dog leash built like boat rigging, in a rust orange that reads like cider in late afternoon light. The double-braided marine rope is weatherproof, will not mildew or fray, and stays soft in your hand even when your dog decides the squirrel is worth it. Solid gold hardware is industrially clamped at both ends, and the O-ring takes a waste bag holder or your keys.

Size by your dog, not by preference. Standard is the 3/8 inch rope for dogs 40 to 100 lbs. Petite is the lighter 5/16 inch rope for dogs up to 40 lbs, and because its clasp is smaller it is not recommended above that. Both run 5 feet, the walking length that gives a dog room to sniff without giving up control on a sidewalk.
